Well, I really do this already, but at least this once for the heck of
it:

Mon: weights, yoga
Tues: 4 mile run (steady pace, slighltly hilly)
Wed: weights, yoga
Thurs: 3 hours shoveling & hauling mulch (counts as exercise in my
book :-) )
Fri: weights, yoga
Sat: hip-hop class
Sun: 5 mile run, hilly

Since I'm not really trying to be a runner, I don't worry about adding
up mileage. It's less this week than it might have been because I did
the mulching work at the conservancy instead of my Thursday run. Today
was a pretty good run, though. I ran to the winery, and I live at the
foothills of a small mountain and the winery is on the other of the
mountain. The run is through a pass, but it's still quite a hilly
route. (One of these days I want to run back -- after a wine & cheese
break -- but not today -- the weather was going downhill rapidly.)

Do be so sure, Chris, it looks like you might have the makings of a
distance runner. ;)

You're up 5 miles, that's great!

Well, it's really not a goal I have -- I'm more into a general fitness
mode. And I probably do way too much weight training to be a serious
runner. I enjoy the running, though. I find it much more fun when
I'm actually going someplace, like today, than just running around the
neighborhood. I need to find more ways to do that sort of thing.

This is a great site. You can log in your routes or check out others in
any part of the US. I may not follow the courses I scope out for
myself, but it gives me an idea of how far they are, so when I go out
and I have a bit of a clue where I'm running.

Don't try to do too much. If you're training for a marathon, that's your focus. If you like swimming cool, but don't let that take energy away from your running. I wouldn't even do Tues if I were you, not just yet anyway. I'd get a couple more months running in. If it tires you out too much, especially since you're running the next day, than just do a mid tempo run instead. But, hey, if it feels good and works out great, go for it. :)

I'm following a Runners World programme so I'm going to try to stick to it
as much as I can. Tried and Tested as they say! They say that the long run
is the most important followed by the speed session so I'll do those. I
hope I'm not going to get too tired quite this early in the programme or
I'll never make it!
