Not too bad for junk food
I had a couple of hard boiled eggs sitting in the fridge ready to go with
me to work today, and like a dumbass I forgot them. Around 2ish I felt my energy flagging, since I hadn't eaten yet, and I said what the hell, maybe I'll get something from the vending machine. I couldn't read the ingredients on anything, but I bought some trail mix, figuring it had to be healthier than chips or a candy bar. Ingredients: peanuts, raisins, yogurt drops, sunflower kernels and almonds. The serving (one package) is 2.25 ounces, 295 calories, 30g carbs with 9g fiber. But, here's the kicker: I didn't eat the yogurt drops, except for one. Since it tasted like pure sugar I skipped the rest. So, in reality, I have no clue how many carbs or calories I ate, so I just entered the package info into Fitday as though I'd eaten the yogurt drops. But even with the yogurt drops I'd only be at 71g carbs for the day, 24 being fiber. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. I remember picking yogurt chips and raisins out of a bag of trail mix once. I think I did something very ad hoc to estimate the numbers - I looked at the pile of whatever was left after taking out the carby stuff, guessed at the volume (about 1/3 cup or something) and calculated as though it were equal parts of each ingredient. Definitely not the worst snack one could have, but a bit of a pain. :-) carla |

I'd only be at 71g carbs for the day, 24 being fiber. Only 71 carbs? Sounds like a lot. Of course, the yogurt drops were probably 20 and the 24 of fiber deducts, so your net (27?) is not bad. I just couldn't swallow 71 gross carbs being called "only," so to speak. |

Well, minus 24 grams of fiber, it comes out to 47 net carbs, and since I'm trying to stay below 60, it's ok by me. I've been below 30 the rest of the last week. Most days there's just not much carby stuff I _want_ to eat. -- Michelle Levin http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick I have only 3 flaws. My first flaw is thinking that I only have 3 flaws. |

The majority of the carbs in the trail mix were probably in the raisins (dried fruit is basically candy), which the OP doesn't mention picking out. -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |
