You lucky duck. I've received at least 700 of them since Thursday night!

I received more than 200 copies of SWEN worm/virus emails in the last
24 hours, coming from about twenty infected PCs, all coming to the
email address I use only for newsgroups.

I have no idea how many I get, as my box fills up within an hour (50
or 60 plus attatchments), and has been doing so since the dam broke.
Most of them are not addressed to me, even.

$20 solves the problem.

To create a bigger box? Just would fill up even faster, if not with
worms then spam. My addresss is not munged. No worries, though, I
have several.

I've had to stop saving messages to my server (for reading at work) because
my maximum space is filled up within less than one hour. Started receiving
warnings from my ISP.

This happened before to another address I have.

I unfortunately (somehow??) launched a worm virus at work and crashed the
computer. Now, the store management suite is screwed up. ARGH!!!

And I used Norton Antivirus!!!

Funny, doesn't seem to happen at home (via cable connection).

? No....to keep a smaller inbox by keep stuff on the server and deleting it
there.

Um, I'm using yahoo, it already stays on the server. To make it
usable with a pop3 reader, I'd have to load some special software that
will fetch it for me.

According to a Microsoft Tech Support Rep I spoke to this morning,
USENET users were the first victims - supposedly the email addresses
were mined from USENET groups and mailed out with the virus attached.
I did a scan and am clean, but now I'm having two of my yahoo
addresses flooded with emails and I've had over 500 emails to one of
my addresses.

Be careful about this bogus Ebay email that's now going out. I
received mine yesterday, it was a good fraud copy, it said that Ebay
couldn't verify my information and it needed to be verified so it
asked me all my personal information including my SSN#, credit
card/ATM number with passwords. I knew it was a fraud so I sent it
back with 'URBusted' as my first name and and 'IHopeUlikeJail' as my
last name...

I keep stuff on the server and delete it from there, but I have 25M mail
space on the server. At the rate these are coming in that still fills up
twice a day and then stops my legitimate email from getting through, so
still enough manual intervention involved (to constantly keep checking the
server and deleting from there) it would actually be easier almost just to
download them all into my delete folder and kill them from here - which I
have to do for one of my ID's.

But that is the ID I'm registered for usenet under. I never use it for
anything since my ISP does not allow me to mung the address in any way, or
they won't let you post to usenet. Since it's in the clear I never use it
for anything, and KNOW that anything I get to that ID is spam. Well mostly.
Occasionally I've gotten an email from an asdlc'er at that address, even
though I have my replyto field set up with the email address I use for real
people- but that's a rare occasion.

One good thing about this worm is that the "from" ID's and "subjects" seem
to have a relatively limited number of variations, so it's been easy to set
up filters to catch most of them.

Well, I can guarantee that is the truth. My ISP does not allow my to modify
my email address in any way for usenet postings. Unless I use the legitimate
email address they will not let the email go through. I never use that
address for anything other than usenet posting. I also have an address I use
for *real* email to friends, etc. I have this one set up in my usenet
ReplyTo field.

And when the dam broke on this one I began getting flooded with the same
identical messages to the both ID's, and it's still continuing. I have
gotten about 400-500 on each ID, and they seem to be pretty much clones of
one another at all times, so it does seem like both my addresses got
harvested at the same time.
