Anyone for Oprah?

Hello list,

Just curious if anyone saw Oprah today? They had a doctor on there
showing body parts like lungs, liver, heart, and such. He had some that
were ruined due to human consumption of things like smoking, eating junk
food, alcohol and such. They showed footage of a corpse being cut open and
showed the fat inside the skin. It was bright yellow and they showed fat
that appeared to be inside the body chest cavity near or around the organs.

The doctor also brought five pounds of fat that had just been lipo
suctioned out of someone that day. They said it was still warm and the man
holding it was about 100 pounds over weight. The fat was in a see through
bag and had quite a bit of volume to it. The doctor told the overweight man
to imagine he's carring about twenty of those bags of fat in his body.

It really makes you think about wanting to lose the fat.

Take care and have a great weekend,

Paul

I started to watch it, too gross for me. I have a client who is a
dermatologist / surgeon. He talks about doing Lipo all the time. No thanks.

the sad part of that FAT EXHIBIT was OPRAHs reaction.
she said, "just looking at that was enough to keep her watching her
diet forever!"

i immediately remembered back to her pulling a wagon of fat out on
the stage years ago, and saying something quite similar.

for folks like OPRAH and me, it is a ONE DAY AT A TIME thing, and
the moment i forget that and start talking about "forever" is the
time that i start going downhill.

that will not happen, today!

:)

I saw the show, Paul. It was fascinating and very informative. I even
found the show humorous at times - referring to the "dip stick" commentsg

It certainly made you aware of the effect of diets and lifestyles on our
organs.

Although gruesome, I would have found this interesting. I'm very
aware when I lose weight that I'm also losing "invisible" fat inside
me, which is probably just as bad for you if not worse than the
external stuff.
I once went to a slimming club where the leader used to bring in fat
from the butcher's to show us what x pounds looked like. I assumed it
was animal fat:) It's quite an impressive sight.

I didn't see Oprah but I can 'see' this as I think about her pulling
that wagon years ago. Like Rosie I'm in this battle EVERY day! Also I
need to NOT think about it a lot. We have this 'mind thing' and I guess
we are much alike in this group and that's why I luv the people he)

I still like to occasionally view my loss volume by piling up blocks of
butter or lard in the shopping cart.

I saw the program, recorded it, and am copying it to CD.
I especially liked the explanation of hemorrhoids in the
After the Show segment. I gave an animated explanation
of the digestive process with emphasis on fiber.

You can see the show on Oprah.com but I'm not sure
about the "After The Show".

I'd like to try that some time. I guess someone might think I was
buying for a hotel, but that would be OK by me:)
