best tasting tuna?
I understand the mercury risks of tuna, but I still believe that it's
probably ok in moderation. It's a great source of lean protein... What I want to know is, which type/brand of tuna tastes the best? Specifically, I'm looking at Starkist lemon pepper tuna fillet in the pouch, and the Starkist chunk tuna in pouch in flavors such as hikory and sweet & spicy. And when it comes to the canned stuff, which tends to be the most palatable? Betsy |

Also the salmon fillets available from other companies. For the Starkist Tuna fillets, try the "lightly seasoned". The chunk tunas I use in sandwiches - no mayo. Betsy Betsy, I can only offer up Bumble-Bee Low-Sodium solid white albacore, add some fine chopped celery, some Trader Joe's low-fat mayonaise, pepper to taste and apply onto (the then) Trader Joe's no-sodium whole wheat bread, toasted, with lettuce and that's fine dining. Serve open-faced to cut back on calories and other negative nutrients. Can you tell that I have no taste? Add some low-fat cheese if you like to live dangerously. Like The Historian and I do. ;) Andy |

I put mine in a salad instead of sandwich

I buy the stuff packed in water, so I know there are no trans fat oils
included. After I slop on a bunch of mayo, the tuna all tastes about the same to me. "oregonchick" wrote in message ... I get the light tuna in a pouch which is just fine plain, mixed with a little balsamic vinegar and fat free cottage cheese or even fat free mayo, mrs. dash and a touch of dijon mustard wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla. -- the volleyballchick |

The only brand I'll buy anymore is Trader Joe's, because it's the only one I can find that doesn't have hydrolyzed soy protein added. I used to can my own, but TJ's tastes fine to me. |

Bumble Bee albacore is best if they sell it in your town, I have to stock up
on it when I go to the next largest city to me. But overall I will buy any brand but only albacore and I also love the tuna in the pouches, it is the dryest and best for making salads out of IMO. |

I think the pouched tuna is by far the best, but I think the flavors
are pretty strong. I usually mix the flavored with a regular pouch to dilute. I visit several grocery stores, so I don't always buy the same brand, but I always by Albacore even in the cans. It always seem to be a higher quality. I have heard good things about BumbleBee, but the first time I ate it I got sick, so I can't eat it anymore. oregonchick wrote: I understand the mercury risks of tuna, but I still believe that it's probably ok in moderation. I like the pouches best... but the unflavored ones. As far as tuna goes,
the worst thing you can do is to buy cheap.... you might as well buy cat food then. :) |
