Doug's week 5 status report - still hanging in there

Hi, people. Just thought I'd drop by and mention that I'm still
sticking with it.

Today is the end of 5 weeks on my renewed diet.

Thing are going... ok. My rate of weight loss is disappointingly slow,
but I *have* lost weight, going from 126.4 kg on 7/1 to exactly 123.0
kg this morning. So that's a total of 3.4 kg = 7.5 lb down so far.

That averages to just 1.5 lb/week.

I guess that is ok if you are thinking in the long term. It's just
that at my weight I thought I would lose a bit more.

My average daily calories per day so far, over the weeks, have been
hovering in the 1700 to 1800 range. Because of the 1,000 "bonus
calories" I can distribute throughout the week, sometimes I have more
and sometimes less.

I do think I need to increase exercise. I notice definite improvements
in weight loss on days I merely walk to the station and back.

If Tao was still alive I would be doing multiple dog walks a day...

On another note, my father is doing very poorly, so I will leave for a
family visit to Boston next Tuesday. I might be there for a couple of
months. I think it should actually be easy to stay on my diet there.
There is a huge variety of low-calorie meals to choose from. I'll keep
people posted.

If anybody is in the Boston area, maybe we can get together for a
healthy meal while I'm there.

i am glad you are doing so well, the slower losses might be healtheir in the
long run, and losing slower also allows your body to adjust better, at least
that is what i tell myself, Lee
