A Feast of Ice and Fire
I heard about this cookbook today on NPR, then happened upon a review
of it in 'The Week' today when I picked it up. 'A Feast of Ice & Fire by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Sariann Lehrer (Bantam, $35)To be fully immersed in the fantasy world of TV’s Game of Thrones, you need recipes, said Nick Owchar in the Los Angeles Times. In the series’s inspiration, George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire saga, Martin provides enough details about the characters’ meals that two food bloggers have been able to build a cookbook around them. Not surprisingly, there are enough meat dishes included that Martin comes across as “the medieval Dr. Atkins.”' The sumptous food descriptions in the books are one thing about the series that I think falls short. I was thinking of trying to recreate some of the dishes myself (except maybe the unborn puppy on a stick!). As a low-carb dieter, the last sentence is especially appealing to me. :-) Looking on Amazon, I see there is also the "Unofficial Game of Thrones Cookbook" as well. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...f+ice+and+fire *-- Bill "Wise Fool" -- Gandalf, _The Two Towers_ (The Wise will remove 'se' to reach me.
