I'm dropping my goal from 150 to 145. The lower belly bulge and upper arm
fat have reduced by about 40% in just the last month. However, the lower
belly looks like it must be at least 5 pounds of fat. Unfortunately, the
body will probably still prioritize taking fat from other areas. I don't
want to lose fat from the rest of my body, but it seems to be the price I'll
have to pay to get the damn lower belly bulge off. My waist size is still
to large too. It is about 39 and should be 36.

Fat, as an organ, has a full vasculature and other supporting structures. I
have wondered if part of my problem is that what looks and feels like a
bulge of fat, may be largely a nest of blood vessels. Also, they say, that
once fat cells are created for obesity, that they do not go away. They only
reduce in size. Having once had a huge belly with about a 64 waist, it is
conceivable that I will be left with the extra fat cells taking up a few
inches because they have reached minimum cell size.

after a diet, and that was a lot of the reasoning behind lyposuction.
More as a means to dispose of the brown fat cells than for weight
reduction. I also remember going on a diet (quite awhile ago, too)
where at the end, I had similar bulges remainging that only went away
as I approached to within 4 lbs of my weight goal. In other words, my
goal at the time was 142, and the remaing bulges didn't begin receding
until I'd gotten under 146. Hopefully, I'll reexperience the same
phenomina this coming spring. Keep us/me posted.

Yours is the first report I have seen that suggest that dropping low enough
does, indeed, remove a lower belly bulge.

Hi Cubit -

I'm a 5'6" male, and this was quite awhile ago. I'd forgotten all
about it until I'd read your post and recalled how good that felt at
the time. I could be wrong on the exact figure, but I distinctly
remember that it was only after losing the 4 - 7 lbs or so, that made
a difference in my own own waistline. Also, my max weight at that
time was less than 170, so I don't there were that many brown cells to
begin with.

Assuming I make it back to around that level again, I'm going to
seriously consider liposuction to remove those cells. Hang in there,
you're so close to it now. :)

I have a huge salad with a can or two of tuna for lunch almost every day
of the week.

At night, Cod, or Salmon, or Shrimp. I am finding my appetite is quickly
dimenishing. Or chicken tits. Last night was diced checken tits with
diced green and red bell peppers cooked in a very hot skillet with about
an 1/8 teaspoon olive oil, and lemon juice and pepper. That and cucumber
wedges.

Breakfasts were the hard ones for me. In fact I submitted to Cohen
yesterday that "ebh" be a new MFW abbreviation for Egg-beater hate.

This morning I rinsed a can of smoked muscles under hot water and mixed
them into a cup and a half of ff cottage cheese. That was breakfast. I
think that I will smoke some salmon this weekend for next weeks breakfasts.

Oh, late night wanting munchies were hard too, but DC suggested celery
as a substitute for chips with salsa. That rocks.

On the weekends I pretty much live off protien shakes during the day,
and normal diet dinners. Vanilla with a lot of Cinamon added. That way I
get a break from the foods I am eating all week.

My only real falter so far was a piece of cheese at my mom's last
Sunday. I am an absolute cheese fanatic and she had a sharp/bleu/sharp
wedge that she had bought. I had about and 1/8th of an ounce.

I'm not a big ketchup or mustard fan, but I LOVE mayo. :-(
Mustard is more something I cook with than a condiment.

Cottage cheese is wonderful, but I can't lose weight on it.
Don't know why, maybe too many carbs in the form if Lactose?

I'm trying to avoid shakes. I don't respond well to Splenda for some
reason.


Hmmm, dunno if I could be doing it without that weekend feeling of
splurging on shakes.

Not for many years.





My only real falter so far was a piece of cheese at my mom's last
Sunday. I am an absolute cheese fanatic and she had a sharp/bleu/sharp
wedge that she had bought. I had about and 1/8th of an ounce.

Me too! For a couple of days now I've been eating cucumber, green
onion, tomato and cheese in a little salad (that's all I've had time (or
room -- the kitchen is still mostly boxed up) to prepare as far as
veggies go) with a couple of tablespoons of mayo -- heavenly! Normally
I would only have 1 tbl, but my calories have been pretty low with my
hectic moving situation, so I'm actually trying to keep my calories UP.

For so many, MANY years I've kept my mayo use to a minimum because of
all the fat hype, and it wasn't particularly special to me, anyway.
HOWEVER, after starting low-carb and having it one day with asparagus
(the ONLY way to eat asparagus as far as *I'M* concerned, I realized how
much I really LIKE mayo -- it has a GREAT taste and reminds me of when I
was a kid when I used mayo with abandon and nary a thought as to whether
or not it would be fattening :-) Now, as with so MANY things I eat, I
have a true appreciation for it that I no longer take for granted. I
like it better than regular salad dressing. Actually, I like a lot of
things better than traditional salad dressing -- for instance, I like to
use alfredo sauce instead.

Normally, I don't worry about fat and have lost weight on a high fat
diet... but things have REALLY slowed down for me and it's frustrating!

So I/we are trying a low calorie, low fat modified protein fast.

It's more of a challenge, but easier than a fat fast! More food. ;-)
