Good-bye

Sorry, but I'm sick of know-it-all Americans telling me how I should or
shouldn't eat when they know nothing of me, or my lifestyle, or even how
British people normally eat.

I'll lose weight the way I did the first time, before Usenet was ever
invented, all by myself.

Good bye.

I didn't know there was such a thing as a British physiology that was
different from physiology anywhere else in the world.

I'm sorry that you feel that way but if you are going to post your food
log, you need to expect for people to comment. In fact, you *invited*
people to comment. I'm sorry that you did not like the feedback that
you received but that was not the first time that someone pointed out
that you really need to eat more protein. Whilee weight loss in general
will help Robert with the lifts in figure skaing, I don't think that
losing muscle mass will help you any at all and that's really the
direction that you are headed with this WOE. Perhaps you would like to
consult with your figure skating coach or with a personal trainer?

Criticism is hard to take. Being open to the idea that people know
something you don't know is hard to get used to.

Joining a group with no interest whatsoever in taking what they have to
offer you is pointless.

I've been hard on you. I just can't quite find the empathy to feel bad
about it. You've been acting like a know-it-all since you got here and
have been unrelentingly closed to the suggestions of the people here.
You insulted the most helpful regulars (clearly you had not lurked) and
that left a bad taste in my mouth.

Good luck on your weight loss. When you're ready to make the changes
necessary to lose fat and keep it off then come here and lurk (that's
silently, i.e., LISTENING) and we'll tell you.

Some random thoughts...

1. The purpose of posting food logs is to, first, be accountable, and
second, to invite comments.

The purpose is in the mind of the original poster. You are assuming
the poster is inviting comments. For example, no one knows the
purpose for your reply here; perhaps you want to help, perhaps you
want to be seen as an expert, perhaps you have no life and just want
to flood Usenet with your pontification.

Posting food log and becoming upset about
comments on it, is not reasonable. If you do not like those comments,
you can discontinue posting food logs, or ignore the posters you do
not like, without leaving the newsgroup.

Trying to persuade someone to stay here when they cleary are upset and
do not want to is not reasonable, unless you want them to stay as
fodder for your unwanted replies.

This is a diet newsgroup, so, comments about people's diets are to be
expected.

This is a support newsgroup, first, so support is to be expected.
This is alt.SUPPORT.diet, not alt.DIET.support.

2. Fish oil supplements, and such, are food and should be included in
food logs.

Perhaps, but what is your point?

3. Saying that Annabel has bad skin, without seeing it, is not wise.

No, it's presumptive.

4. Saying that Annabel's diet is lacking in nutrients, is a bit of an
understatement.

No, it's presumptive.

5. Saying that Annabel cannot lose weight, is based on conjecture and
not facts, she might be able to lose weight and keep it off. I think
that her chances of success can be estimated as less than half, but
this is as far as we can say with what we have seen.

Upon what do you base your estimate of Annabel's success? If there is
no emperical basis then you are just guessing.

6. My suggestion to Annabel is to stay here, lurk for a while, make
some adjustments in whose posts you read and what you take from them,
etc. This newsgroup is a good resource for those who take what they
need and leave the rest.

She did not ask for your suggestion. Are you too wrapped up in
yourself to see that YOU are one of those she does not wish to deal
with?

Get a grip.

Sorry to see you go, Annabel. I thought you were very helpful with your
suggestion to me in my "Settled into new Environment" posts. It's a pity
that you haven't found the group as helpful for you. Good luck on your
"solo" effort.
