Adding bulky fiber before meals to curb appetite??

Hi,

I’m looking for a diet where you eat something bulky like oatmeal
before meals to fill your stomach.

Are there any diets that take this approach? Are there any supplements
designed for this purpose?

Does this approach work?

Thanks

There are entire styles of ethnic cooking that do that.
Most of the regional Chinese styles for example are high
in veggies that have plenty of filling fiber.

Are there any supplements designed for this purpose?

Psyllium husk. It makes food more filling and helps
regularity.

Does this approach work?

That depends on what you mean by "work". Does it help
reduce calories eaten at a single meal? Yes. Does it
help keep hunger from coming back soon? Think about
the cliche' about being hungry an hour later.

Basically, if you find that low fat eating works for you
and does not trigger hunger then eating higher fiber low
fat foods will make it work better. If you're in the
percentage of the population who gets more hungry not
from eating low fat then eating higher fiber low fat
foods will not change that.
