Carb Addict's "reward meal" question...

Been doing Carb Addicts for a bit over a week, and have lost about 3 lb pretty
effortlessly.
Question about the daily reward meal timing. If I start out my meal with only
so called "craving reducing foods" eg protein and fats, with no carbs, do I
start my timing at the beginning of the meal anyway, or can I start timing when
I start to eat carbs.
This came up today when we celebrated my daughter's birthday. We went out
for a Sunday brunch and planned on doing the cake thing later after we got
home. I ate a low carb omelet, some salad, grilled chicken etc all with
virtually no carbs. However, if I started my timing at the beginning of that
meal, the birthday cake would have come well over an hour later. I simply
considered the brunch to be a large "craving reducing" meal, and the small
slice of cake 45 minutes later to be a one slice "reward meal". BTW-- it's
now 7PM and I'm still not hungry. I can live with this.

Hiya Paul,

First off it never hurts to re-read the book a few times.
The way CAD works, well the basic jist of it is you eat
2 small low carb meals (almost more like snacks and the
lower carb the better) now for your reward meal it should
start off with 2 C salad then your meal should have three
equal parts one part protein , one part low carb vegie and
one part carb... now if you wanted more carbs or more vegies
you should eat equal parts of all three again...

a small tip with this diet (well all low carb diets): the more salad you eat
and water you drink the more you lose. I like junkie salads so I should say
this... just watch your carbs with the salad.

Oh and before anyone says anything I say Diet as in daily food in-take not
the slang term for a way to lose weight :o)

Carb Addict's "reward meal" question...

It's my understanding that you begin the hour as soon as you start
eating the meal.

The reason behind this is that the longer you are chewing/taking in
food, the more insulin your body will release. At least that's how I
read it in the book.

I seriously doubt that the one piece of cake you had even if a bit
after the hour will cause much distress. You may have to deal with
the cravings again from it however.

this is all just my understanding of the book.. and my own opinion.
Hope it may help a little.
