Checking in - Week 14

Here it is, Tuesday, my weigh-in and accountability day. Fourteen weeks on
the diet and down to a new low - 228.3! This is the lowest I've weighed in
about seven years.

This past week has been rough, and even though I've lost each week the rate
of loss has flattened out. One pound loss this week, roughly two pounds the
week before, compared to the previous 12 week's average of 3 pounds per
week. I'll admit I got lazy and fell back into some old habits, and for
some reason I have been just ravenous lately. A contributing factor has
been the weather. Early last week it was beautiful outside, warm and sunny,
and I did a lot of yard work. Kept me out of the kitchen! For the past few
days its been gloomy and I've had to stay indoors with the food. I'm weak.

Ah, but this is a new week. New resolve, new opportunities. Back to the
basics!

You're doing great, Dewolla. Yard work seems to be something we've all
been doing the past couple of weeks. It's a great way to get the exercise.

Losing one pound is much better than gaining a poundg Congratulations!
I'm sure getting back to the basics will get you back to where you want to
be.

Congrats on the new lowest. You can do this, maybe you can find
something to do inside to keep your hand busy and you out of the
kitchen. You have done well so far, done give up. a 1 lb loss is
better than a gain any day. Healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs a week.

Thanks, all, for your lovely and caring encouragement. Couldn't go on
without your help!

Michelle, I did do something today which took my mind off food - I visited
an employment agency! It's been a little over a year since I was last
employed, the company lost a major government contract and withered away.
Anyhow, I think I need to be back in the job market so I made an
appointment.

My goodness, times have changed! I won't go into all the paperwork and
other documentation they now go through, but I was amazed at a little
100-question quiz I was required to take. All multiple choice, and all
having to do with drug usage, theft and rage! Questions like:

When a coworker says something really degrading to you, would you hit him in
the face:
A. Never.
B. Seldom.
C. Often.
D. All the time.

In the past two years, not counting pads of paper and pens, how much value
would you estimate you've stolen from your employer?
A. Over $1000.
B. Over $500.
C. Over $250
D. Less than $250.

How likely are you to come to work under the influence of drugs?
A. Highly likely.
B. Very likely.
C. Likely.
D. Not likely.

Wow! Later, in the one-on-one interview, I was asked to describe myself. I
made mention of the test and said "I'm a saint!"

Hi Dewolla,

I'm very proud of you. Keep up the great work. Don't despair, and eat
veggies and fruit when the hunger hits you. You'll get over the bad food
cravings if you just train yourself to eat the good foods often. Remember
eat 5 times a day, smaller portions, healthier foods and your metabolism
will purr like a kitten.

Your friend,

This sounds like a pretty dumb test. Surely anyone could tell what
answer they were supposed to give! I'm sure anyone who would steal
from their employer or hit fellow employees would have no compunction
about lying on the test!

Congrats on the continuing weight loss!
