What plan did you follow? Made it up. Calorie counting mostly -- you know, the eat less, exercise more, write it all down plan. 2. How many calories per day are you maintaining your weight on? Dunno. I could tell you what my PDA says but I think that it fudges. For example, I don't weigh apples. If I eat an apple I enter it. 81 calories are added. Was that an average size apple according to USDA? Doubtful -- probably higher. I figure that if I'm consistent that's what matters. Isn't there a difference between accuracy and precision? I think may this falls somewhere in there for me. 3. What is your age, sex, height and before and after weights? 37 female 210+ before 120- after 4. Any additional comments about what made you successful. Weigh daily and log weight, look for trends food log exercise log -- jmk in NC |

How many calories per day are you maintaining your weight on? I eat anywhere from 1,400 to 1,600 calories, and exercise three to five times a week. 3. What is your age, sex, height and before and after weights? 38, F, 5'1" 168/117 4. Any additional comments about what made you successful. Constant Vigilance! Understanding that what I was doing was not a temporary "diet," but a life-long commitment to change the way I live, eat, and treat my body. And support and the occasional kick in the pants from the ASD folks. I'll summarize the results for everybody! Thanks! doug |

What is your age, sex, height and before and after weights? 1984 - 41, female, 5'3" 155/130 1996 - 53, still female, 5'3" 177/135 (I quit smoking this year and gained weight) 4. Any additional comments about what made you successful. I've found I have a much easier time maintaining when I don't slack off on the exercise. Biking is my favorite but I also include weight training, walking/jogging on treadmill, exercise videos, etc. Journaling becomes very important when I find myself with a few extra pounds to lose. What plan did you follow? calorie counting At first I tried for a mixed diet but with rather less fat than 'normal'. Later I made an effort to eat more protein too. I also tried a ketogenic diet toward the end - works well (2lb/week!!!) but is very difficult to stick to for any length of time. I'm not very good at dietting my weightloss was glacially slow toward the end. 2. How many calories per day are you maintaining your weight on? I'm not very good at maintaining. I tend to eat more on holidays and less when my belt starts to tighten. Probably 2000 calories or so. But I think I underestimate. 3. What is your age, sex, height and before and after weights? 48 male 6'2" 19.5 stone or 273 pounds was the first weighing after I'd been dietting for a couple of weeks. Probably started at 280+ 182-189 I'm currently down 85 pounds @ 188 My aim has gone from just weightloss to lowering bodyfat % 4. Any additional comments about what made you successful. logging food in fitday - all of it every day persistence obsessing a little (or a lot) weightlifting - cardio would be good too if I would do it. learning a lot about weight control, what factors are important, what is myth, what works, etc. Ray |
