EAT:Using chewing gum to satisfy my cravings
There was a period in my time where I would chew sugar-free gum
whenever I felt like I wanted to eat something. I would pop chewing
gums as if they were popcorns in order to satisfy my craving until
lunch or dinner.
Although I don't have this habit at the present time, I think it did
control my calorie intake to an extent. Chewing-gum didnt work as a
substitute for a proper meal (It didnt fill me up!) but it did prevent
me from thinking about food for a couple of hours.
The chewing action prevented me from thinking about food but it wasnt
a permanent affect. If I ate too much gum I would actually feel more
hungry.
However, sugar-free chewing gum isn't a zero calory food. The ones I
buy come at around 50 calories of carbohydrate for 50g, no fat or
protein.
