Default Low Carb Week in Review

Stories from Low Carb Update
http://www.lowcarbupdate.com

Here's a summary of last weeks media coverage of interest to the low
carb community.

Charge and Countercharge
A vegetarian doctor's group attacked the Atkins diet. They blamed the
death of a teenager on the amount of meat she was eating. Atkins
Nutritionals responded by accusing the doctors of "shameless
exploitation" of the death to further their own vegan politics. Rush
Limbaugh defended Atkins.

Bread Maker's Summit
Bread manufacturers met in Providence to fight the perception that
bread is bad. 40 percent of Americans have cut their bread
consumption. Looks like the bakers have chosen to promote the "food
pyramid."

Thanksgiving Stories
Cauliflower for mashed potatos. Xanthan gum for pie crusts. Pumpkin
pie and cranberry sauce with Splenda. Several articles gave tips on
how to deal with a low carb Thanksgiving dinner.

Low Carb Beer
Coors will begin selling a low carb beer to compete with Michelob
Ultra and Miller Lite.

Low Carb Pizza
Pizza, 7 grams a slice with an almond-based crust, is now sold in
Idaho.

Low Carb Subway?
Turkey Bacon Melt, Chicken Bacon Ranch Wraps, 5 grams, $4.49 each

Catherine Zeta Jones
The actress continued refuting reports that she is on the Atkins Diet.
She said has a responsibility "to young women who look up to me and
admire my beautiful appearance."
