Moderation DOES work. It's just really really hard for a lot of
people.

Take any diet and strip away the goofy particulars, and you're left
with the same principle:
"force a deficit and the body will meet homeostasis requirements by
metabolizing parts of itself"

If you were locked in a prison cell and given a limited amount of food
every day that ended up being LESS than your daily requirement, you
would lose weight.

When you add things like hunger, availability, and will into the
equation, it starts to look like moderation doesn't work, because of
human weakness.
