Default Is the Adkins diet healthy?

At least with my lowfat, vegetarian diet, nobody is telling me it is
dangerous. The most they can come up with is that it is boring, or
they try to make the argument about those "good fats". dkw

As far as I'm concerned, the human body DEPENDS on averages and wide
arrays. Evolution (or design, pick and choose) has built it around
non-specifics. Why people think a very unbalanced, very specific diet
would ever be a good solution is totally beyond me.

Not just Atkins. I'm talking about people that swear off food X or
group Y and/or only eat A. Even if supplemented (like a lot of
veggies do to make sure they get their protein etc.), it just seems
so...unnatural. And partially inconvenient.

But I digress. I won't touch Atkins because my brother tried it and
developed diverticulitis. He's been in and out of the hospital for 5
years now with digestive problems. I don't necessarily blame Atkins,
but it sounds like a really crappy way to diet, and I don't want to do
it.

To each their [possibly insane] own?
