Default N. Lables, Fat & Cholesterol

I've been counting calories for a while & also have been trying to eat a
little healthier (gradually). Figure that I'm on a 2000 calorie diet, what
should I be looking to get (or not get) in terms of fat, cholesterol and
the various nutrients? There is an awful lot of opinionated crap out there
online & I don't want to fall victim to bad advice. Also, I don't know
whether the %dv on the labels is based on reality, junk science or
political bull****. Pretty much everyone in this group though, the regular
posters, are doers, not just talkers. So I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

Just curious how you came to decide that you would try a 2000 calorie diet?

Anyways, the RDA is a decent guideline, and nutrition labels are fairly
accurate. Some people choose to eat a higher percentage of carbs, or
different ratio of carbs/protein/fat. I personally eat around 40% fat, 40%
carbs, and 20% protein. But my fat tends to be the healthy type - like from
avocadoes, nuts, fish and olive oil. Also, my carbs are more from high
fiber sources like whole wheat, fruits and vegetables, and beans.
