Oh no! Now you Lardies have to use Aspartame/Nutrasweet which actually
tastes like sugar not that soapy disgusting bleach tinged crap
called Splenda

If I use aspartame I *will* wind up with major migraines, depressed
breathing reflex and generally being very unwell for 3 - 5 days per
use. If I use Splenda, accepting that it has some carbs and make it
an occasional treat not an every-day, massive-quantities thing I will
avoid all that.

To me, Splenda tastes better as well as allowing me to avoid the nasty
side-effects that *I* experience (and I don't expect anyone else's
experience to be the same as mine) when I use most other types of AS.
So I'll stick to my Splenda, thanks. You can have my share of the
aspartame.

I'm afraid I just don't belive you.

You see, there are over a billion people a year who consume massive
quantities of aspartame daily in their diet cokes and not one has ever
been found to suffer. The ones who complain are actually psychotic
and the problem is strictly in their head.

I suggest you have a friend set up some blind scientific tests and
you will quickly see that it is all in your head.

I have, on several occasions, ingested aspartame or other AS without
knowing about it in advance. I get the SAME reaction each time,
lasting about the same length of time. Sometimes the ingestion has
been accidental, on at least two occasions it's been deliberate on the
part of the 'friend' wanting to prove me wrong.

Most people can consume peanuts without any ill effect. Doesn't stop
many people dying each year of anaphylaxis. Most people can
experience a bee sting without too much difficulty. My husband will
die if he doesn't get to a hospital within minutes. Most people can
eat strawberries, or eggs, or dairy foods without too many problems -
but a significant minority cannot.

I don't disbelieve that some people can be sensitive to some
sweeteners and not to others. I live with it, every day. Believe me,
it would be MUCH easier if I could just pick up any old diet product
that is artificially sweetened but I know, from bitter experience,
that it's not true.

I work on the principle of live-and-let-live. My refusing to touch
any sweetener except Splenda shouldn't have any impact on your life.
Your preference for Aspartame doesn't affect me. While there are
products available that use different sweeteners, everyone should be
able to live happily.
