Jean,

There were two 7-11s in a town I drove through yesterday, Sunderland MA.
One had them, the other didn't.

I tried a second piece of the Zcarb bar last night and had pretty much the
same experience. Something about that "cooling" taste that comes with sugar
alcohols sparks off a hunger response in me and makes me want to eat more.
I've noticed this before with the Ross chocolates. Since I really don't need
180 calories of extra stuff in my daily plan right now (I'm balancing out
the excesses of Christmas week by eating very modestly) the carbs aren't as
much as an issue for me as the calories so the Lindt 70% square is a better
treat value for me.

Needless to say if you wanted to eat three square of chocolate rather than
one, and could handle the 180 calories, the Zcarb bar would be useful. As
advertised it doesn't seem to cause a sugar spike. The carbs in the Lindt
are higher--about 4 grams and only allow for eating one square. But for some
reason I find the Lindt 70% extremely satisfying in a way no other chocolate
is. And after eating it I don't feel like I need to eat any more chocolate
which is rarely the case with other chocolates. (Don't ask me the details of
the Christmas week excesses but the "Chocolate" played a major part in them.

I guess I have to figure out the trade-offs, assuming I find the
things. I looked for the Z-bars Sunday before last, so maybe they
have come in since then.

Maybe it is good that I can only have chocolate once a week at the
very most (otherwise, I get headaches). I like a pretty dark
chocolate, which can be good from a carb point of view--if I go
with the real thing.

I guess the things that have to be considered a

flavor and mouthfeel (which = satisfaction)
carbs
calories

I wonder why that cooling effect causes you to want more? Do you
sense that with ALL sugar alcohols? The only one I've seen people
comment on in that regard is erythritol.
