Ack. Despite my precautions, the germy cashier at the pet store
managed to give me a cold. The main problem with that is for many
years, one of my main strategies has been to suck on
zinc-echinacea lozenges almost constantly, and those contain 3 g
carbs each. (This is in addition to Zicam--and I think they swabs
may be less effective than the yucky spray.) How many of those do
I dare use per day, and what will the effect be????

On the other hand, I was pleased to see that I have dropped
another two pounds. That brings me to 15 pounds lost. I suppose
I will dance around this point for some time now, since that seems
to be my pattern. Anyway, it was encouraging to see that on the
scales....

I was sick recently and I used the full sugar cough drops of my choice. I
did not limit myself to a certain number per day, I chose to risk the extra
carbs in exchange for not contstantly coughing. I didn't gain anything,
probably because my appetite was reduced from being sick so I didn't eat as
much as usual.

I did go out to see whether there were any zinc (and maybe
echinacea) lozenges that would be better, and there weren't. So,
I am using the lozenges, sort-of restricting them. I shouldn't
cut back on them, because they seem to work best if I use them
practically constantly.

I did look for LC versions of the soup I tend to eat when I am
sick (and at no other time). Tomato soup is pretty high in carbs
(and most at the normal stores contains high-fructose corn syrup);
mushroom soup is better. I was thinking I might make a tomato
coup clone, but that would still be pretty carby. I think I may
put together something like a Tom Yum--or maybe I will work on a
hot and sour soup that is just unthickened broth and egg. (I am
too lazy to deal with the wood ears and golden needles right now.)
