Default VICTORY !!!

I got it all clarified now, I've called in to get my appointment to get
fingerprinted to send in my Credential application (the rest is all done
already).

I got the stuff I need to study for the CBest test so I can apply to sub
(I'll have to do the test in october though, the one in august is during my
trip back home ARG can't transfer the tickets and they costed a fortune). So
end of october I should be ready for subbing. I'll be ready to be a "real
teacher" by the end of the coming school year!

You are just working towards getting your credential here in California
then. You should be able to get that done through Sonoma State or even
through your county office of education. I know here in San Joaquin
county, they get you in their program and you are subbing once the
paperwork clears the right channels, but you are working nearly full time
while completing your credential. Since you already have your BA, then
you can get "emergency" credentials, substitute and continue working on
your official credential. I think if you go through the county it will
cost way less than Sonoma State so you might consider that option if money
is an issue.

I have my BA (two of them actually) and am already a teacher.. so I'm
hoping it won't be too long..

The week before I left Quebec I was offered a permanent position (as in
for life) in a highschool teaching history.... dream job for a new
teacher..

Paperwork.. paperwork paperwork!

message news I was teaching history and morals (which is really an ethic class, they
just never changed the name). Also social studies...

I miss history.. I miss the teenagers. I love Weight Watchers.. but it
IS a lot of running around.. for each 3 hours paid, I work 5 at
least... and gas.. and...

Also, as much as I hate money, I want a bigger home with a real
backyard, I want to not worry that if there's an emergency in my family
I won't have the money to go (I'm from east Canada, living in
California, going home cost around 1000$ round trip)...

It's just time to do something.. I've given WW all that I had to give..
now I want it to become something I do for fun... not for a living..

There are so many great rewards from teaching, especially the health
benefits that I assume you don't have with WW. The running around for
WW would drive me crazy. As I mentioned before I know our leaders have
to cover a huge territory and the hours for meetings are early morning
to evening 7 days a week, not that they are working all of those but I
know you have to cover for people on vacation. With a teaching job it
will be more stable over all. The state is finally more favorable
toward improving education so there should be more jobs available too. I
know our district is finally hiring more teachers.

Best of luck with your credentialing program. I was smart because I got
my BA at age 20, life credential at 21 and MA at 24 so even though I
didn't teach when my kids were young, it was easy to get back into this
after school tutoring job I began 6 years ago. I work for the school
district so I didn't have to drum up my own business.
