I've been wondering whether the biggie size falafel over high blood
pressure is real or not. Maybe it needs to be listed along with the myths
of high cholesterol, too much fat in your diet, global warming being the
fault of SUV's and incandescent light bulbs, and that second hand smoke
causes cancer. I really don't know what to believe any more. -- Mike

How on Earth would anyone convince you, one way or the other?

I guess science has become much like religion -- believing in the results of
any particular study or group so studies requires a leap of faith. Who
funded which study, what was used in terms of an experimental method, how
was the data evaluated... All this crapola about global warming is the
epitome of bad science, right next to the wonderful scientifically based
dietary and nutrition advice cheerfully provided by the AHA, the ADA, et al.
I just don't know what to believe anymore. I know this: my diabetes is gone
and it took my high blood pressure along with it; most of my excess fat is
gone and I am no longer being kicked out of the bed by the dog due to my
flatulence. I thank Doctor A for all that! What about you? How do you decide
which studies you do and do not buy? -- Mike P.S. I used to teach statistics
and experimental design.
