i am not counting calories but because i am tracking my intake in fitday
i realize how very little i know.

There are Calorie Counter books out there. Wal-Mart sells them as well as
K-Mart, two stores you will find everywhere. I find these books very
helpful. But just looking at the packages of food in the store will give
you the calories per serving and other information that's helpful. The
healthiest foods are found in the fresh meat and produce sections of the
store.

from years of experience with low carb diets (thus my calorie ignorance) i
know that the best plan is to shop around the edge of the supermarket,
that's where they keep all the real food )

produce, meat, fish, dairy, eggs

they put all the creepy stuff in the middle. luckily i don't buy too much in
the middle. graham crackers for the kids, cannned 99% fat free broth, peanut
butter, canned tomatoes & pasta, rice for DH, frozen veggies...

i've always been majorly turned off by those 'crock pot delite" type
"hamburger helper" sorta creations (eep) Those must be soooo bad for people!
