Criticized, yes, when apprpropriate. To take an entire profession and call
them a 'breed' which generally refers to animals and 'stupid' and claim that
if they had brains they would have gone into physics or law is just plain
mean spirited.

Criticism: "You might have approached that patient differently according to
their individual needs..."

Mean and Ugly: "You are stupid. If you had any brains, you would have gone
into physics or law. You don't know how to think through problems
logically."

See the difference?
