I find Scotch and Irish whiskeys to be repellent.

Me too. I'm okay with rye, bourbon and canadian styles. I have it in
egg nog near Yule and that's it so I don't have much. For this year I
have a half-bottle of apple brandy for my egg nog so no whiskey this
year.

Adding splenda to an alcohol drink. *Shudder.

Right. In consquetive lines I write about egg nog and about rejecting
splenda when mixed with alcohol. Definite contraction. Egg nog seems
to be for me "the exception that proves the rule" when it comes to that.

It helps the medicine (ethanol) go down.

Then I don't get why you bother with a drink at all. The stuff is easy
to forget and not bother with. Making alcohol a priority item isn't a
good idea. Viewing it as a take it or leave it item is a good idea.

You have very different tastes in drink than I do. *We don't compete for our drinking
ingredients.

Other than nicely hopped beers and a few pricey liqueurs, I dislike
the taste of alcoholic beverages.
I was mostly drinking Old Milwaukee and OM Light ...

Yuck. I am fuss about beers and ales. If it's not good I won't bother.
If I wanted a drink that I'm not fussy about it would be wine. Wine
from a box doesn't bother me. Same pattern as yours but with a
different drink.

The thing I like to drink most of all is one thing I definitely can't
have, milk.

We definitely don't compete for our drinks. To me milk drinking liquid
milk is a waste of a good raw material for cheese or yogurt or whatever.
