Default "Curves" Experiences? ...

Hello ...

I know that Curves has been discussed here before, but I wondered if
anyone who is currently going to Curves might be willing to share any
thoughts or experiences.

I've been going to a "regular" gym for over four years, and I'm
wondering if perhaps I need to try something different, since I don't
seem to be as motivated to go to the gym as I had been. Also, the
class schedule there has been cut back and changed since I joined.

I went to Curves yesterday for one of three visits for which I
qualified through their promotion with Kraft Foods.

As someone used to the slower pace of using free weights in a
strength-training class, and who is accustomed to using a treadmill at
the gym for cardio, the Curves workout, with the changes every 30
seconds, was very different for me.

I'm wondering -- for those of you who are going to Curves -- are you
finding it effective for weight loss? What about for strength and
building muscle?

I have two more free visits before I need to decide whether or not to
join. The membership fee would be $75.00 if I join in February, and
the monthly fee with a one-year membership is $39.00. I don't know if
these are standard rates or whether they're particular to this area.

Anyway -- any thoughts, observations, et cetera, about Curves would be
much appreciated!

Thanks!

Linda W.

Hi Linda,

I've been going to Curves for a little over 6 months. In this time I've
lost 7 pounds, 2% body fat, 2 inches off my bust, hips, thighs and upper
arms and 3 inches off my waist. I'm very near my goal weight so this has
been great progress for me. I haven't made any drastic changes in my diet
during this time.

I joined as I'm 61 and have osteopenia. I needed to add some type of weight
training to my exercise routine. I found it hard to fit a regular gym into
my 10 hour workdays and once I arrived home I never quite made it to my
exercise roomg Stopping on the way home for 30 minutes of circuit
training is very doable for me.

I joined during one of their campaigns and the initial fee was waived. My
monthly fee is $29.00. I think this fee varies by area.

Building muscles?? I'm definitely beginning to see some muscle definition
in my upper arms. I've always been a biker so my legs have never been a
problem area. I carry all my weight around the middle so I'll have to
continue reducing the body fat to see major improvements in that area.

I'll have to wait until the next bone scan to see if there has been any
improvement with bone density. Hopefully the weight training and medication
are helping.
