Default The Historian's Adventures in Cleveland - 65 pounds lost!

I barely exercised, I ate all the wrong foods, and ate them at odd
times. Vacation can be tough on a dieter. Despite that I lost an
additional 4 and a fraction pounds the past week, bringing me to a
total of 65 pounds lost. Everyone I know was commenting on my weight
loss. What a wounderful feeling!

I arrived back today, about 4:00 PM. after a five hour train ride and .
By 6:30 I was at the gym, trying to get back into my routine. Boy am I
sore! Amazing how quickly the muscles forget what they knew!

The posting below appeared on humanities.literature.author.shakespeare;
it's an amusing account of my falling off the diet wagon:

Neil "The Historian" Brennen is visiting Cleveland this week to do some
chess research. We had dinner last night, and I'm pleased to report
that we
think you're all fine, except the ones who are crazy.

Neil has lost 60 pounds, and looks great. He used to be what we call a
BIG
man. He's now what we call a big man. And getting littler.

Playing Mephistopheles to his Faustus I led him to a theater district
deli,
and he wisely had the Fanny Brice ham sandwich (with fries!). As he
pointed
out, Faustus wasn't led anyplace he didn't want to go.
