My weight problems happened as an adult. It began w/ preganancy where
I gained 50lbs (for a 9lb baby)

Any diabetics in the family? 9lb. babies can be a red flag.

Nope - no diabetics in this family. And no gestational diabetes
problems w/ the preganancy either. I've got 2 uncles that are well
over 6'7" tall, and my brothers are both over 6'2" tall, and I've got
2 other uncles that are over 6'2" tall and then my ex's family - his
dad is 6'2" ...

Big in height is hereditary. My son was 8lbs 15oz when he was born
and totally healthy. At 9 yrs old he's 4'10" tall and 82lbs right
now. Tall, but not heavy.

You seem to have missed the family trend for length.

YUP - I'm the shortest in all documented family history. :-) (but
how many family histories document height?) Something about the
milkman comes up every so often. :-)

The females in the family are all over 5'5"... my mom is 5'7", and my
little half sisters are 5'9" and 5'10" (but then again, they have a
different mother than me, and my stepmom is tall too).
