Hi,
Just delurking here again with a query or two......

I joined WW in May 2003 and have lost 50 pounds to date with which I
am very happy. I am still however around 10 pounds short of the WW
target but things are now at a bit of a standstill and I've just
stayed same weight for some time now sticking to my 20 points per day.
I have various health problems which prevent me from increasing
physical activity in order to progress with any more weight loss. Am
able to take short walks only now and then on good days.....
Everyone I talk to tells me I look fine and that I have lost enough
weight. I am happy with my clothes size at present. I am determined
that the weight I have lost will not be gained again as the health
implications are much too risky for me so my main aim at present is to
concentrate on keeping off what I have lost rather than try to lose
more weight. I know this will mean leaving WW as I'd be wasting my
money to continue attending. I feel I could manage to continue on my
own as this 20 points a day thing is now just a way of life with me
and it's a habit I am now on for life, etc. Others here may not agree
I could do this? My leader had always been understanding about my
limitations physically but I am reluctant to discuss with her if she
could accept a higher target for me as I think her response will be a
negative one? Your comments on this would be appreciated.

I would talk to your doctor to see where he/she thinks is a good weight for
you to be at. For some the WW chart can be too low for some people to
achieve comfortably. With your physical restrictions you may never get that
last 10 pounds off without struggling. You might get them off eventually but
will it be easy to maintain it? Here in the US you may take a doctors note
for a higher goal weight and your leader will accept it. This may be the
solution for you. You can continue to attend meetings once you are at
lifetime status to help keep you at your goal weight. Don't be afraid to
talk to your doctor and your leader to figure out whats best for you. You
may find that setting a higher goal will remove some of the stress
associated with losing the last 5 or 10 pounds and you'll finally lose
them.

As for tricks used to get these last off: try varying your menus if you are
eating the same thing day after day. Eat a high point meal using your flex
points at least one day a week to keep your metabolism guessing. Here is a
site on breaking plateaus that might help you:

BTW, is the target higher if you are over 45 years of age? - I had
heard this was so, but not sure.......

The weight targets change for those over 45 YO but not the daily points
target. Take a look at this chart he http://www.lesslisa.com/wwchart.htm
to see where your current goal weight fits into the chart.

Congrats to all here on their weight loss! ;-)
