Default You may dis Subway's new low-carb wraps, but ...

The only reason I dis them, is that evidently my local Subway owner is a
friggin' MISER with portions. They taste good enough, but in order to get
something *satisfying* I'd have to order double meat and ask for extra
veggies, making it even *more* expensive than it already is. Thanks but, no
thanks--I'll just wait for BK's "protein-style burger" to come out.

... they are dovetailing in perfectly with my low-carb plan. Today I
ate the Turkey Bacon Ranch Wrap (with green pepper, ripe olives, some
onion) for lunch, and for dinner I fixed a four-egg cheese omelet
with four thick slices of bacon and 5 or so pats of butter. Both
very filling to me. (Of course I take plenty of supplements and
vitamins and usually eat more vegetables with dinner).

I plugged the Wrap into Fitday, and along with my omelet and bacon I
had a near-perfect carb day! This is the Fitday breakdown:

Calories Total: 1580
Fat:123g 72%
Carbs:26g 4%
Protein:92g 24%
Fiber:11g

The ratio of 72% fat, 24% protein and 4% carbs is as close to my
daily ideal as I ever come. Not only that, but net carbs were only
15 after subtracting the 11g fiber, all of it from the Subway wrap.
(I drank only water and weak iced tea; may have added an odd carb)

I won't eat it every day, but it's sure nice to know that there's a
restaurant next door to work where I can now get fast food that
doesn't trash my low-carb way of eating.

Incidentally, for diabetics who may be interested -- My BG was 95
before lunch, and 115 two hours after eating the Subway wrap. It had
a minimal effect and kept me within normal limits for that meal. I'm
a very happy low-carber today.
