Hello Tonia,

I have the same problem at times. I get an ammonia smell sometimes
after a long workout on my stair climber and such.

Ammonia is a byproduct of protein breakdown. It means you're burning
muscle. Your workouts are probably too long.

I've had problems
in the past when I use to run where my sweat would drench my shirt and
while running the shirt would brush my nipples and make one or both
bleed. I think it has something to do with salt content or something
in the sweat, though I'm not sure of this. Maybe drinking lots of
water will resolve the problem. If you find a solution let me know so
I can test it out.

The solution is not to do so much freakin cardio. You may think you're
burning fat, but if you smell ammonia, you're burning muscle.

I didn't smell ammonia and I'm sensitive to the smell. I asked my DH worked
out at the same time (on the Saturday after XMas) as I did when it was the
worst (my skin actually peeled a bit after a couple of days), and he doesn't
remember smelling ammonia. I think I will cut back to 20 minutes on each
machine for an hours workout total. I hadn't been working out on my non-gym
days very regularly but I think I will put in a little ski machine time to
compensate for the shorter Tues, Thurs, Sat workouts. Thanks.
