Default low carb fad diets do work in the short-term

High Protein/low carb diets, like all fad diets, work for a short
time. You will need to stick to it and take your supplements, but It
can take the fun out of living, You can eat as much meat, butter,
fish, fat, cheese as you like , just no crackers or wine or beer, oh
and take some sugar free mints. I remember a book called the caveman
diet in the mid-nineties,which i was on for a month, I remember
getting so drawn into the book it was almost a religion to me, but
last year I tried high-protein low carbohydrate ( the Atkins Diet)
diet which reminded me of the caveman diet and it did work, I was on
that one for 12 weeks, But if it's not a diet you can do the rest of
your life? : so why go on it in the frist place ? (I ask myself)
Everybody knows that fad diets don't work long term, I have never
knowen anybody to keep the weight off with a fad diet ?, I would love
to hear from somebody who's been on a high protein low carbohydrate
diet for more then two years. But what concerns me is that their is
negative effects with the low/carb fad diet , such as: bad breath,
constipation, low intake of disease-preventing phytochemicals and
antioxidants from plant foods, especially fruits, vegetables, beans,
brown rice, whole wheat breads and high fibre cereals are in short
supply. In the long term the negative effects can be more significant
with increased risk for kidney problems. All fad diets are calorie
based, and if you don't eat too many calories you're bound to lose
weight. Surely a balanced diet is better for human beings?
Surely a caveman diet or low/cal is not the answer long term ?, your
much better off being on a Weight Watchers diet or something calorie
controlled, because the chances of keeping the weight off are so much
greater, especially if you have a balanced meal each day. Just keep
it simple.
