Default losing weight overnight

Thanks, yeah I understand that it is water content, but was very
surprised that it was so much.

I sweat at night. Not profusely usually but it's still 8ish
hours of it without waking up to drink water. I never go
8ish hours without water while awake.

Also surprising since I am sure I read
that it is better to weigh yourself in the evening. Really, it seems
that the morning is a better time..

To me the best time is when there's the least variation not
the lowest number. Morning after the bathroom seems the
least variation. Not so little variation that today's number
actually means anything, but little enough that putting it
into a weekly average formula does mean something.

How often to weigh - If you get upset from looking at the
scale reading work on your emotional issues before getting
on the scale next. Beyond that weekly or less seems okay
early on to keep expectations realistic by not weighing often.
Later as you approach maintenance frequency needs to
change - The goal in maintenance is to stay below some
number so weigh daily or weekly to catch any regain. Very
subjective since the whole thing changes with context.
