"Curves" Experiences? ...

Hello ...
I know that Curves has been discussed here before, but I wondered if
anyone who is currently going to Curves might be willing to share any
thoughts or experiences.
I started out at Curves and was going there for a few months before I
started my diet. I continued there for another year. When I wasn't
dieting, I didn't get much from the workout, but at least I was working out.
When I did my diet, I was able to benefit from the workout. These days, the
workout isn't challenging enough for me so I am now doing a weight routine
at a gym.
The benefits of Curves for me were the travel passes for when I was out of
town, the convenience of a short workout, and their hours of operations.
I've been going to a "regular" gym for over four years, and I'm
wondering if perhaps I need to try something different, since I don't
seem to be as motivated to go to the gym as I had been. Also, the
class schedule there has been cut back and changed since I joined.
Are you doing weights at the gym or just the classes? Do they have personal
trainers? If so, you might want to consider a few sessions to develop a
workout plan that you would enjoy and would help you accomplish your goals.
I'm wondering -- for those of you who are going to Curves -- are you
finding it effective for weight loss? What about for strength and
building muscle?
It was not my only source of exercise so I don't know how effective it was.
I added a lot to the routine including dumbells on the circuit (not allowed
in some places) and some serious ab work & yoga after the circuit.
I have two more free visits before I need to decide whether or not to
join. The membership fee would be $75.00 if I join in February, and
the monthly fee with a one-year membership is $39.00. I don't know if
these are standard rates or whether they're particular to this area.
Ours was $29 a month if you let them take the money from your checking
account each month, $39 if you wanted to pay them each month.
