That was pretty much my reaction when I read what Juli wrote :-).
(Except I haven't done childbirth.)

Well, actually, what I meant, was wearing contacts if she had them, might be
more appropriate for formal evenings.

I just go blind and hold my darling BF's hand all evening long. He thinks
it's cuz I adore him. Don't tell him any different.

Ah, I see. I don't even have contacts any longer, and my vision is so
poor that I'm very uncomfortable without glasses. I feel like I'm
kind of in a fog. I'm insecure if I can't see what's going on around
me :-).

I expect DH would just think it was weird :-). He's blind as a bat,
too.

Thanks very much, Monte. The links were great. I think my problem is low
calcium, after reading these. I now feel I'd better start taking my
multivitamin and calcium again. Really, it is a good idea anyway,
particularly for those on a low-cal diet.

I just read something in the newspaper about the CDC workers being asked if
they take vitamin supplements. Every hand in the room went up. g Since
they have access to the best medical research available, I think I'll join
them in taking vitamins.

Default Beauty regimen question

Ohhhh yeah. I have two office mates who tan their poor skin like shoe
leather. They are both relatively young now, but in a few years they are
going to look like prune-faces. (We live in Idaho.) I moved here from LA and
NOBODY gets a tan there anymore except maybe the tourists. I lived in Santa
Monica and worked in Brentwood among the "rich and famous" and believe me,
those women have alabaster-white skin from avoiding the sun. They wised up
after seeing the damage done to their parents' skin.

I have a question, though, since we're on the beauty subject. Suddenly,

my
fingernails are breaking off at an alarming rate. I don't think I've

ever
had this problem before. They are now almost down to the quick. I don't
understand what's going on. Anyone have a solution for this? I'm

wondering
if I'm not getting enough nutrients because of my lo-cal diet...

Cat

If it's nutrient related, it's because of what you ate (or were eating 3-

6
or more months ago. That's how long it takes for nails to grow out.

I've noticed that since I started drinking more water, I don't get the
cracking skin NEXT to my nails (and on my heels) that I used to get in the
winter. Side benefit.

Aside for those feeling that a tan makes them look healthier. Maybe now,

but
wrinkles will catch up with you as you lose weight and age. Just a

thought.

Lately I've been reading things suggesting that calcium may aid in
weightloss. Here's an example:

What's the Biore strip for?

Cat

I do face masks occasionally -- not very often. I bought some Biore
strips but haven't tried them.

Elise, my Mom, who is nearly 80 years old, has always followed a rigorous
skin-care program and her skin is amazing. She has barely a line in it. She
certainly doesn't look her age, skin-wise. So you will be vindicated in the
end. VBG Just tell your hubby you may be slidin' out of bed, but you're
lookin' good on the trip to the floor.

I wear Liz Taylor Sparkling Diamonds. I don't like to smell anyone with
heavy perfume so it's only one light spray for me. Unless you have your
nose stuck on my neck you probably won't be able to smell it.

ROFL!!! (Sorry, I'm a very visually-oriented person and I had to laugh at
the mental picture that conjured up.) I love to wear perfume. I also prefer
a light scent. I wear "Design" by Paul Sebastian. I used to wear very
expensive perfume, but this is a mid-priced product that is very nice. In
fact, some of my "rich and famous" friends from Brentwood wear it. : I get
a lot of compliments from people on the perfume, usually after I first put
it on in the morning. It tones down quickly.

One of the worst things in the world for me is being trapped in a confined
space with someone who wears cheap perfume (or too much of anything, cheap
or expensive). Once, the women in my office had to confront a male co-worker
with the fact that he was dumping on the expensive cologne and making us all
nearly ill. I'm at the age now (perimenopause) where smells can really get
to me.
