Food & Exercise -- 9/23/2003
Food:
7:00 (driving to meeting): 2 hardboiled eggs 8:30 (meeting food): 2 skewers of fresh fruit (melon, pineapple, strawberries) 10:30 (meeting food): 1/2 bagel w/ 1/2 oz. cream cheese {Mind you, they had a big basket of donuts, muffins, and other pastries that I passed up :-).) 12:30 (meeting food): chicken sandwich -- about 3 oz. chicken breast w/ a sort of spicy mayonnaise on a hard roll -- only ate a couple of bites of the roll & mayo (which I didn't like) 3:00 (driving to gym): energy bar 5:00 (at gym before lifting session): Power Ade (Ahmed made me drink it because of the exercise I'd already done) 8:00 (home): 128g boneless smoked pork chops; 120g peas 11:00 (home): 1 cup f/f cottage cheese Totals: 1509 calories, 43g fat (26%), 165g carbs (44%), 113g protein (30%) Exercise: 3:30 p.m. -- got to gym early and was hanging out while Ahmed was coaching a couple of the other trainers in strongman contest stuff, so I joined in a bit: a) pushed a Jeep Wrangler about 30 feet (engine off, barely-perceptible incline) b) pulled 90 lbs. (2 45 lb. plates) along the carpet for 80 feet, running backwards holding straps attached to the plates c) then did 135 lbs. (3 plates) for 80 feet -- definitely not running by the end with this one :-) This was fun :-). 5:30 p.m. -- Olympic lifting: Shoulder warmups Snatch: a. 2x5 overhead squats with broomstick b. 1x5 power snatches with broomstick b. 1x5 drop snatches with broomstick c. 2x5 classic (squat) snatches with broomstick d. classic snatches with 20kg/44lbs: 2x1; 3x2 -- with Ahmed helping steady the bar in the bottom position, as my shoulder is still not quite up to it Clean pulls: 1x5x20/44; 1x5x30/66; 1x5x42.5/93.5; 1x5x47.5/104.5; 2x3x52.5/115.5 Split jerks: 1x5x20/44; 2x3x25/55; 2x3x30/66; 1x1x35/77 Front squats: 2x5x35/77; 1x3x40/88; 2x3x45/99 Skipped cardio tonight -- this was enough exercise for one day :-). My friends think I'm nuts because I think my exercise is fun and they can't imagine how getting up at 5AM and running in the pitch dark by starlight in 40 degree temps is enjoyable. I can now tell them that I know of someone who calls pushing a jeep "fun." Having spent a lot of time helping DH push the 1960 CJ5 around I just can't make the "fun" connection LOL Jenn |
