In many ways Atkins.com has made the purchase of the book a little less
necessary. It also includes meals, snacks, you name it.

Of course, this group has a wealth of articles, many concerning the same
questions asked every other day, if you will just search :-)

During induction, I ALWAYS kept hard-boiled eggs in the fridge, ready to eat. I
didn't necessarily make meals of them, but they were there and ready if I opened
the fridge looking for a vague "something".

Then there's meat, fish and poultry. Try to have salad and some other veggies
that are included on the induction list. Google this group for "fauxtatoes",
which consists of mashed cauliflower and variations on cream cheese, cream,
garlic powder, butter and spices. During induction I see that I ate a lot of
pre-made salads at Trader Joe's -- I LOVE their smoked salmon salad. Later I
started making 4-6 servings of salad for the week, using a Tilia Foodsaver to
keep them fresh (that's harder to do with the bags, but after I bought some mason
jars & the lid sealer accessory, it worked out much better.

I made a HUGE pot of turkey vegetable soup that really hit the spot and was
always ready to pop into the microwave.

I've developed a liking for pork ribs, which I almost NEVER ate before going on
Atkins. Now I use Jenny's recipe for low-carb BBQ sauce and cook them in a
rectangular slow-cooker for about 4-5 hours -- DELICIOUS!

Bacon & eggs are always good, especially if you make an omelet or fritatta by
adding things such as cheese, bell pepper, a little bit of onion (have to watch
onions on induction), etc.

Watch here for recipes and links to recipes -- you can get a GREAT deal of info
and inspiration that way.

I also like Foster Farms Hot Wings that I buy at Costco in a BIG bag. They have
a little cornstarch in them, I think, but they are only about .25 carbs per wing.

Keep reading here for inspriation and support -- it's been INVALUABLE to me!

I bought the book almost two years ago. Since then the Atkins organisation
has moved strongly towards marketing all sorts of food type products which,
IMO, we would be well off without. The book didn't push this stuff, just
gave the rationale for the diet and suggested real food to eat. Is the web
site as detached, or has it become part of the marketing department, intent
on pushing bars and shakes and quasi low-cal substitutes?

Hi Cecilia!

no idea what to eat... Does anyone want to share some of there
favorite meals or snacks??????

I found this site, with sample menus, very helpful when I first started:

http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/menus/pastcj1.shtml

Just skim over the menus, pick out meals that look good to you. It gave me some
great ideas. I still make the cheeseburger quiche from time to time. Delicious
for breakfast, a third at a time is 5 carbs and very filling.

There are product placements, but almost without fail outside the borders of
any articles, etc. Almost all of the recipes and informational
articles/sections do not contain references to specific products, so I think
it's not too bad. Some of the recipes as you move on in the phases start to
suggest Atkins Bake Mix, etc, but we all know that other things can be
substituted at this point.
