Day 2 of 100 Day Diet until Thanksgiving -- 246/244/200
8-14-12
246/244/200 Day 2 of 100 Day Diet Yesterday I had 950 Calories and I am getting back in harness again. In 100 days -- the day before Thanksgiving -- I will have lost a little more than 40 pounds, if I simply follow the program, that is, eating few enough calories for long enough. Today I hope to limit myself to Slim-fast for all my meals, but whatever else I will focus on, the most important is low calories. If I have 1000 calories a day, then in 100 days I will have lost a little more than 40 pounds, and will be a lot healthier, will have better blood pressure, etc. I chart my weight on my graph every morning and use a balance beam scale -- and I don't move the indicator higher if I have gained some water weight, etc. I know that if I eat few enough calories then the scale will have to go lower over time, unless the laws of physics are suspended in my kitchen, as Pesci said in "My cousin Vinnie." I also wear the numbers on my watch band, and today my numbers are 2/2, indicating that on day 2, 2 pounds are gone. Over time, both of those numbers will grow much larger as I reach my goal. Other areas of focus -- No bread, no alcohol, no fast food, daily exercise. I also sing little songs to myself, such as "99 days to health ahead, 99 days to health. If I live the next day in a healthy way, then 98 days to health I'll go. 98 days, etc.," to the song of 100 Bottles of Beer. (I have to change the words a bit, I think.) Also, to the tune of, "Gonna build me a mountain," is "Gonna reach 200, in a little while," with words noting the importance of continuing to do what works, with pointing out the food-toxic environment and the stupidity of giving in to companies trying to get me to buy food and drink harmful to me, etc. I was on my recumbent bike today for 30 minutes watching political television shows I had recorded -- time went by quickly. I hope everyone reaches their health goals! Just be good enough for long enough! Yours, Caleb |

You already know that going that low triggers an inevitable starvation mode refeed response when you stop. That's happened to you many times as you hav eposted these series. I chart my weight on my graph every morning and use a balance beam scale -- and I don't move the indicator higher if I have gained some water weight, etc. I know that if I eat few enough calories then the scale will have to go lower over time, unless the laws of physics are suspended in my kitchen ... You have learned about random water retention swing. Have you learned that no matter how much effort you put into reducing random water retention swing it does not work? How much is your swing? That's the highest above a previous low you've ever experienced while on plan. As your plan is proof against storing new fat (many plans are) you know all swings up are random water retention. As new muscle growth is slow and your plan is too low calorie to allow any new growth (one of several problems with your annual approach but you've known that for years) you know all swings up are random water retention. My maximum swing is 6 pounds. It appears that most people who figure out how to measure theirs end up with a lower swing. I was on my recumbent bike today for 30 minutes watching political television shows I had recorded -- time went by quickly. I like that length of time. Maybe 45 minutes is optimal? |
