Default Is It Too Late?????????????

I have been on Atkins for 9 days now and I failed to measure myself
before I started. I feel better already, and my pants are SLIGHTLY
looser. Is it too late to get measurements for an accurate count on
how many inches I've lost? Or should I just measure myself tomorrow
and go from there? (And please, don't forget to give me rude and
sarcastic answers to let me know this is such a great place for
support! I'll enjoy every word of it! )

It is never too late. So you don't have day one measurements, you have day
9 or 10. I take them now and again. Take them on day 10 and then take them
in a few months. Not sure how much you are trying to lose. It is cool to
see the progress.

Keep us posted on your results. Nice to hear all the success stories.

Unless you have a time machine, I'd say start measuring tomorrow :-) I don't do
measurements very well. They never seemed consistent from one day to the next,
so I started pulling the tape until it met no resistance. Unfortunately, even
though I was shrinking, the tape measure didn't reflect it that way. Hard to say
how much is due to the pulling too tight part or newly firmed muscles pulling up
formerly drooping flesh (when exercising, it's not uncommon for fatty areas to be
pulled up and appear to poke OUT before they go IN). One thing I DO know is that
my tape measurements are higher later in the day, so, like weighing, if I want to
do it, I need to do it in the morning or not at all (I liken it to having to
adjust your rearview mirror to drive home after work because you've shrunk in
height during the day).

Since your clothes are slighty looser already then yes you have probably
lost a little measurement wise and it's too late to know exactly what
measurements you started at. But you should definitely measure tomorrow. I
doubt after only 9 days it's going to be that much different.

AmBeR,

Since weight loss in the first several days is mostly excess water being
flushed from your system, it's actually better to measure yourself now after
nine days; your measurement will be a more accurate reflection of your true
weight. Then, you can measure yourself once a week to make sure that you
are losing at least a little weight each week.

Or if you decide it's too late, what you could do is pick out a pair of
slacks you haven't been able to fit into in a loooong time and keep
trying trying them on. Once a week, once a month, whatever suits you.
Its like having a goal weight to work towards. You will keep getting
closer and closer (hopefully). It is what inspires me, since I didn't
measure at the beginning either. Good luck no matter what path you
choose! Marty
