Has anyone tried the Cabbage soup diet?
Does anyone do it on a regular basis?

The cabbage soup diet - oh, I remember that one. Make this soup, then eat
it and a very limited diet for 2 weeks and lose 10 lbs.

If you read the whole thing you'll see you follow this for 2 weeks, then
take a break for a few weeks, then do it again.

The key to the cabbage soup diet is - it is low calorie. You are
restricting your calories for 2 weeks and limiting simple carbs, so your
body will turn to its glycogen stores for energy, and since those glycogen
stores are also one of the things that help the body retain water, once they
are gone, the body releases excess water and the weight on the scale goes
down.

This same thing is also known as "the honeymoon effect" that many fad diets
have - the rapid weight loss that is seen in the first 2 weeks of a diet.

Now - the big thing with the cabbage soup diet, the cabbage in the soup will
tend to make someone very gassy and the first few days you do feel gassy and
bloated. Secondly, let me tell you - after 2 weeks of eating cabbage soup,
you never want to see it again!

No, to use the recipe for the soup to make yourself a good home made, low
sodium, healthy soup or even use it for the base for stew, and to include a
bowl of this with your dinner as a way to get extra vegetables (and their
vitamins and nutrients) is not a bad idea. I have done this in the past,
making a large batch of soup, putting it into serving size containers and
freezing or canning for quick easy meals and to have a bowl of soup with
some grilled meat or some form of protein and call it a meal.

No because it's boring and then they go off it and put all the weight back
on. Or they wind up in the hospital with malnutrition. Exercise and eat
right to be healthy.

Thanks for your comments.
I actually had very good results from it. I don't do scales I prefer to
measure myself instead...I lost 10 inches all over my body on the first week
and then another 7 on the second week.
I haven't managed to get back on it for about a month as I have had parties
and functions but I haven't put on any inches since. I have found that it
seems to have shrunk my stomach so that I don't need as big portions as I
did before. I get full very quickly. I know that it isn't the perfect way to
lose weight but as I had no luck at all with SW or WW I am very happy with
what this has done for me. I love the stuff too..Can't get enough of it and
end up making a new pot ever day.
