TIRENESS AFTER FOOD MEANS WHAT?
Hello, my older sister often says she feels too tired after eating a
meal. she says she feels her stomack "heavy" or tired, and she prefers to lay or have a rest after each meal. Is this normal? or does it mean any concret sicknesses? Thank you, Natasha, http://www.geocities.com/zamilanova |

Is this normal? or does it mean any concret sicknesses? It is somewhat normal, and the way to correct this issue is to eat less at any given meal. It's also a good idea to try out eating different types of foods and see if some foods cause this but others don't. It can be how much, what type, or a combination. |

TIRENESS AFTER FOOD MEANS WHAT?
After a Thanksgiving meal with huge carbohydrates and huge fat everyone in
my family needed an afternoon nap. Now that I only eat tiny amounts of the carbs, I'm awake and walking around looking at the others suffer. Lethargy after a meal is a phenomenon that stopped, when I became a low carb fanatic. "Natasha" wrote in message oups.com... I'm by no means a low-carber, but I do find that when I eat a large amount of carbs - particularly refined carbs - I feel the most uncomfortable and unpleasant sort of sleepiness afterwards. I am sure it is directly linked for me, but I guess different foods could cause tiredness in different people. janice |

She may be eating to much at one meal. Some people do better on 5 or 6 mini
meals. To many carbs at one sitting can also cause you to feel tired. She should try eating mostly steamed veggies and baked, grilled, or broiled meats. Sometimes I think it also just becames a habit to go lay down after we eat. It may take a little effort on her part but maybe she should try forcing herself out of that chair and just taking a slow leisurely walk for about 15 to 30 minutes after she eats. I'm wondering if she would feel tired if she ate only NON-COOKED food.
I've something like cooked food is felt as an aggressor on the body. The body then defends itselfs by launching white cells, therefore the tiredness. Something like that, anyway. |

I find I get sleepy if I eat a large lunch, so I keep my lunches on the
light side. A large dinner does not affect me this way. I'm not very hungry in the morning, so my breakfasts are light. Maybe its something to do with circadian rhythms? |
