Bacon & Nitrates
Is soaking bacon for a few hours done in the fridge or out on the counter ?
(thinking bacteria here) I dunno, maybe the nitrates prohibit bacteria growth...... OT: Uh.....nitrates, got this problem in my fish tank, lol.....do you know it's in your tap water also? In mine, the tap reads 10-15 parts per million. When you think about it, kinda gross, Ammonia ( urine) breaks down to nitrites and nitrites break down to nitrates and that's what's in YOUR BACON, ewwwww -- April Blues was 197/gained from 144-now163 /next goal 140 Started Low Carb on Jan 18th, 2001 www.candle.safewebshop.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "poohbear" wrote in message ... It would seem that to answer this question, we would need to determine if nitrates are water soluable. .. Nitrates are water soluble (I have had four years of chemistry-- this one is a no-brainer).
