Default Week one, only lost three pounds

Hello,

I am starting my second week of induction, following the book, eating only
approved foods. I have only lost three pounds. I guess this is good for me
seeing I have gained weight on most other diets. I exercise(The Firm
workouts) 5 to 7 days a week and drink more then the stated amount of water.
I thought I might loose a little more weight. What seems to be average
weight lose in first week? I had 36 pound to loose. Also, no visible
inches lost on tape measure. I have been tracking carb count to about 10 to
18 a day, depending on which veggie I eat. Ketone sticks show I am in
Ketosis. Am I just burning the fat I eat or fat from my body? Kinda
confused on the ketosis thing with the stick.

I don't know much about ketosis or ketone sticks, but I do know that 36
pounds is not a huge amount to lose compared to some others here. People
with less to lose do it more slowly than people with a lot to lose, no
matter what plan they are on.

The Ketone sticks are really just for fun, not a reliable indicator of
anything.
As to the question about burning fat from the food you eat or from your
body, it is both, and dependent on the calories you are eating vs calories
burned.

Practically all of the weight loss in the first week is water, your result
is not atypical.

The less you have to lose, in general the slower it comes off and the more
you have to watch total calorie intake.
It sounds like you are keeping carb intake lower than recommended, why is
that?

Thanks for the replies,

I am measuring my food in a cup and going by the carb counter in the book, I
have estimated my carb intake. I am eating until I am full. I am now down
to two meals a day, not much appetite(sp?) and one snack. I cut out the
Atkins bars after second day reading on this board that they may be too high
in carbs. I do have a high cortisol level and trying to get doctor to do
something. No luck so far.

Thanks again,

Lori

Thanks I for your reply. Exercise is not the problem. I have been a
devoted Firm exerciser for about 1.5 years. These workouts are much more
intense then walking. Most combine aerobic exercising and weight training.
I will try to eat less. I did notice I don't have the energy during
exercising I used to have. Hopefully this will return. I am however, not
suffering the late afternoon exhaustion, I am just kinda tired all day now,
but nothing I can't work through.

Well, 3 pounds in one week is pretty good. Low carbing should lower
your appetite, so try eating a little bit less and a little bit more
bland food. Do not go overboard, just take note of how much you eat
one week, and eat 80-85% of that amount of calories thereafter.

Exercise also, do the equivalent of 1-1.5 hours of walking every
day. It works. You do not have to walk, other easy exercise also
works, note the word "equivalent".

i

Thanks again,

Lori

That doesn't sound bad. Assuming it is a linear loss (which it is not
) 1,5 per week = 7 per month. Then you'll be done before 6 months have
passed. You'll be ready for summer. Some people here has been losing
weight far longer than that.

Make sure you are working out in your targeted heart rate zone, if too high
your body is eating up the sugars in your blood and boom, you fizzle away.

In the book, it states that woman should expect to loose during the first 14
days of induction about 6 pounds, you have only been on it for a week For
men it says about 10 pounds.

welcome lori!
congrats on your three pounds, and imo, it just too early to start
worrying!
you don't have that much to lose, and consequently we lose slower.
hang in there and i hope you will read and post often!

You may be eating too much. Or maybe you are approaching your female
period, at which point many females bloat.

opposed to a *male* period????
