Default American Airlines - unbelievable!!!

I need to make a trip to the U.S. again next month. I have my reservations
on American Airlines and just called to request low-calorie meals for my
flights.

I can't believe it in this day and age, but they said they discontinued the
low-calorie meal option last year!

Unbelievable! What are they thinking?!

Me responding to me...

I checked sample menus at the AA site and it looks like diabetic meals are
the closest to a healthy low-calorie meal, so I went and ordered that.

The vegetarian ones look good, but also look pretty high calorie - fried
falafel and so on!

Trying to stay in business? Airlines need to cut costs everywhere,
including specialty meals. It's either that or go bankrupt. : )

Doug, you are so lucky you are getting a meal. On cross country flights
we need to buy packaged food in boxes unless we bring our own. How
healthy is a box with packaged cheese, crackers, sausage, oreos, chips?
My daughter flew AA from San Francisco to Ecuador so I gave her a lunch
bag with a roast beef sandwich, carrot and celery sticks, apples, diet
gingerale, water and a few hard candies for her evening meal. Try to
take some food with you to supplement what you can eat on the flight.
Try to sleep as much as possible.

I always bring my own food on planes. I don't like to pay for a "meal" that
I wouldn't normally eat. I know in the number of US airports I trekked
through this last year I was always able to find a salad with chicken on it
and fruit somewhere in the terminal.

Actually Air Canada food isn't as disgusting as the American airliner's
food.. but still..

I agree, I'd bring my own food AND water.. makes you safe from Ecoli if
nothing else..

Meals are included on the flight. At least they are on mine.

I second what Nunya said. Bring your own food. I do.
