Yogurt culture questions
I have been wondering about yogurt cultures. When one purchases
refrigerated yogurt, it should contain live active cultures. Many brands even list the specific cultures. If you cook with it, do the cultures die? I have always assumed that heat kills these cultures (after a point at least). Is this the case? If frozen, do they die or become inactive (for example, in store bought frozen yogurt)? -- jmk in NC |

Yup, thanks! It looks like baking with yogurt kills the cultures but freezing just makes them go dormant until unthawed in a bowl in in your body. Thanks again! -- jmk in NC |
