Default Low carb sourdough bread is low carb (and food)

I have a box of Atkins low carb sourdough bred, here are the
ingredients:

wheat gluten, cornstarch, salt, natural flavor, casien protein, whey
protein, yeast

Wheat, cornstarch, yeast, this looks like the stuff that would go in
any normal bread recipe. And this bread is low carb too, with only 3
net carbs per slice.

It sure is great being on a low carb diet and having this bread to eat
that's safe for the diet. You can have tasty sourdough bread and since
it's indisputably low carb, you can lose weight eating it too.

What is cornstarch and why is it in almost every single ingredient
label? Is there really a NEED for it to be in there? What does it do?

You bred this box of Atkins low carb sourdough on your own? Now that's
talented!

All kidding aside....

The ingredients look highly empty calorie. However, you don't need to
justify or prove anything to me. Why do you feel you need the approval
of other people, who you have likely never met, for your personal food
choices. People are either going to think it's crap (like I do), or not
think it's crap and it's up to YOU to choose what you put in your body.
I don't care what you eat, because I'm not responsible for your health,
mindset, or well-being.

you know, with your posting name The King of Pots and Pans, you
really ought not to ask this question.

Why? I am the King of Pots and Pans because ever since starting this
LC diet, I've been doing nothing but scrubbing pots and pans from
cooking so much. Doesn't mean I know squat about cornstarch. Or when
someone cleans a lot of dishes is there some magical knowledge about
cornstarch that is embued into their brain, that somehow I missed?

If there is yeast, this bread is not "sourdough".

Another fraudulent atkins nutritionals product.

They add "Natural Flavour" to give it a "sourdough" taste. And who
KNOWS what kind of crap they put under the blanket of "natural flavour".
There's more of that in there than there is yeast, even.

Well, King, your chosen name does seem to imply some culinary knowledge.

12g protein and 5g of fiber don't sound like empty calories to me. it
sounds like another source for essential nutrients.
