Hey, fellow Low-Carbers!

Today I weighed in at 180, and that's thirty-seven pounds less than I did
earlier this year. I have a problem with the group because I might stay
at one weight for a few weeks or a month, and then suddenly drop punds
over a week or two.

Jim, there seems to be no rhyme or reason how I lose weight, too. Over the
course of month, I'll stay the same (going week by week here), lose a few,
gain the "phantom pound" as I call it because it doesn't seem to corelate to
anything, lose more than a few, stay the same... It really makes it hard to
add carbs by 5 gram increments because I feel the weight gain I have isn't
due to increasing carb (I really haven't...I haven't gotten over 30 grams a
day)

My message to everyone is, DON'T GET DISCOURAGED! You might not see
results in a week or a month, but they will happen. Everyone's body is
different. You will achieve control of your body if you give it some time.

Agree. I'll go through days of discouragement, but it's so easy not to cave
in becasue I don't have the carb cravings.

I'm about fifteen pounds away from goal, and I lowered goal to fit what I
want todayl

Woohoo! Congrats! BTW, I assume you meant your starting weight was 217 ;o)

I doubt you are considered poor in China if you are able to afford internet
access and a computer. BRBR

Internet cafes are very popular.

I'm sure in your stats, that you mean 217 and not 117, and
congratulations.

Geez, 1/4 of the world's total population lives in China and you have to
troll on a diet newsgroup for a date?

You must be REALLY ugly! BRBR

Or poor.

Like others the elimination of cravings by just low carbing really
sustained me the first 4-5 months. It was effortless and really easy.
I'm in the 11th month and cravings have come back with higher carbs, I
have to push down the level of carbs again to gain control. You're
right that you can't let months of success be negated by a stall or a
stabilization at a certain weight.

My greatest problem right now is chocolate. Getting my craving for
this under control is the biggest hurdle. It is a comfort food and it
is clear that certain stresses end with me overeating chocolate. I've
minimized the damage by sticking to low carb products, but the real
goal for me is to reduce the source stress, which may happen within
the next two months.

Thankfully, I'm not gaining any weight, but its hard to see that I'm
losing it. I've estimated that I've got 7-8 lbs of water weight
(glucose storage). Going from moderate(maintenance) carbs to very low
carb levels I've lost as much as 7.5 lbs in 7 days. And I will bounce
around 7 lbs during the course of the month. I think I've lost 2-3
pounds last month but with 7 lbs of swing it easily is hidden. I have
continued to lose inches. My chest and hips are down 9 inches, while
my waist is down 10+. I've gone from a 52 pant to 42.

I will feel better when I start seeing 250/260s on the scale instead
of 260/270s. That's really the only way I know I'm am still making
progress. However I don't think I'll see that till end of year.
