New Here, have some questions
Hi there, I am new here.
I am currently trying to lose some weight, but have an unsuccessful time of it. I have been cruising the internet, and seem to find conflicting information - I am not sure what the proper amount of calories is that I ought to be consuming in order to lose weight. The old school rule of thumb used to be 1200. However, I have read some sites that say that is too low! I am currently 5' 4". Any suggestions? -- ----------------------------------- "An unexamined life is not worth living" - Socrates |

The old school rule of thumb used to be 1200. However, I have read some sites that say that is too low! As I just said, I generally eat 9 times my weight in pounds for calories every day. I try to make that 5% fat, 40% protein and 55% carbs, although generally it's more like 35%/60% protein/carbs. In addition, for me it is *very* important to exercise. It took the better part of two months, but I finally noticed my metabolism is speeding up. Once that happened, the weight came of at a rate of 2lb/week, before that, I was happy with 1lb every two weeks. As all weight loss goes in phases, I've hit a bit of a plateau. But I like my WOE so much, I am not planning on changing anything and hope to get off the plateau soon enough. For me it is: the slower the better. Rather than skipping all the "bad" food, I limit the portions of rich foods. That requires will power and a good measuring cup, but it sure beats eating raw veggies all day. -- -- Boemsi 207 - 192 - 180 |

I'm curious because my efforts to increase protein inevitably lead to increased fat. Dally |

My guess is that even the American Heart Association and Dean Ornish would consider that to be dangerous.
