This is a great attitude, Susan! We need to learn not to measure our
progress against others, but to appreciate and savor our own
accomplishments. I still think I'm very cool because I can run 5
miles, even though I am probably a slower runner than anyone else in
this group :-). It never ceases to amaze me that I can do it at all,
and every tiny increase in my speed or duration is a victory.

I think running five miles is *very*cool. That's one of my long term goals.

This afternoon I said to myself, "I'm hungry. I need to eat." And I didn't
have to feel guilty because I really WAS hungry and I really DID need to
eat.

Good for you!
I can certainly relate. I made a mistake last night, thinking I can go to
sleep feeling slightly hungry. When DD (11 months old and teething) woke me
up at midnight, after taking care after her I recognized *real* hunger and
made myself a tomato & mozzarella salad and had it with a slice of toast.
Though, I do I didn't make the mistake earlier in the evening of going to
bed still being hungry. But it was real hunger I satisfied later on - and I
didn't overeat and made an effort to make a healthy meal instead just
grabbing the first thing in the fridge!

We learn a lot from small steps like this - eventually they all become huge
steps on our path to successful maintenance!

Keep up the good work, PL

I'm with you on the running, janice But I was able to do a half-century
on the bike this summer. One of the other patrolmen said I was probably
ready to tackle a century but I don't think I'm ready for that - maybe next
summer.

That's quite impressive Beverly, and it's great to think the patrolman
thought you were capable of even better things

LOL. Me too, actually. I guess I have to be able to go 500 yards before I
can go five miles. But I'm shooting for five miles. One day.

I just hope I haven't screwed my knees up too badly.

That's what I keep telling myself. One day it'll stick.

I'm assuming a half-century is fifty miles? That's amazing!
